Myofascial tissue is continuous and omnipresent in the body. It interweaves and wraps muscles, and every division of tissue within the muscle. By weight, 40% of a muscle is fascial tissue.
Where there is chronic or acute pain, limited or difficult range of motion, ongoing stress and tension, there is almost always myofascial tissue which needs to be released and relaxed.
This technique releases constricted myofascial tissue, decreasing tightness and pain, allowing muscles to move more freely and will less pain.

Pregnancy is a time of physical and emotional change. Weight gain causes postural changes which compress the lumbar spine. There is also added strain on joints during pregnancy. Massage can have a profound impact on helping to relieve these discomforts and create a healthier pregnancy. Massage is recommended starting in the second trimester. A special massage pillow has a cut out for the belly and can be used to allow a face down position.
Most women are positioned on their back and or side using pillows and bolsters.

If you are getting ready for that BIG race, you can book a pre-event sports massage. This can be a full body massage, or a specific area. Using rhythmic compressions, the muscles are stimulated, energized, and ready for competition! Post event massage uses a relaxing 'milking' method to help rid the over-worked, tired muscles of toxin build up. This massage really helps to restore sore muscles after that hard workout.

Due to potential risks such as infection, bruising, skin breakdown, possible blood clots or low platelet count, clients being treated for cancer should consult their physician prior to scheduling a massage.

A trigger point is a hyperirritable spot that is painful when compressed. Trigger points are so called because stimulating the point triggers a painful response. There are two types of trigger points; Active & Latent. Active trigger points cause the client pain. When stimulated, active trigger points refer pain and tenderness to another area of the body that is usually not associated by a nerve segment. Latent trigger points only exhibit pain when compressed, do not refer pain, and may or may not radiate pain around that point. Trigger points, whether active or latent result in dysfunction.
